So, below is probably the rarest of weights: a true Garuda.

This weight was found in Sittwe, Rakhine, but not necessarily made there. It has been shown to a number of traders and collectors in country. All not only authenticated it, but every single one did their best to convince me to sell it to them. I’ve been offered Major Money for this weight. Perhaps I should have accepted, but it is just too interesting for me to part with.., yet. Maybe in another decade or two.. ..

No one has been able to put a definitive period to the piece, either. Most guesses are late 17th to mid 18th century, although that’s a pretty big window. I have only this one, and I've never seen another like it. I’m open to observations and comments.

This is a 50 tical or ½ viss weight.

...Never seen anything like this! The short verticals on the base remind me of all those the period C birds, but they don't have round bases...???
