#1 Hintha (H1B) weights by Franck 12.10.2011 22:14

I wanted to share with you some of the weights I started to collect in the late 80’s in Burma and Laos, by starting with 7 of them from Group H1B (Mollat) or Group 5 / period KL (Gear). Period : 1560-1640 (?)
All with round base except one (octogonal).
Thank you for your comments.
Franck

Hi Franck

Welcome to the opiums weight forums!

I am curious why your first image shown your weight with greenish color patina. Other images shown the weight with brownish/reddish color patina.

Is it caused by lightning effects?

Can you please provide additional close-up images showing the bottom of the base?

Best regards from Myanmar.

Thank you for your comment. Indeed I realise the colour of the patina is influenced by the light and colour of the background. Reality is between the first two pictures, so slightly greenish patina. Here is the photo of the base (sorry flash light) as well as another set of (older) pictures of the weight taken with different light and background.

Thank you for the 4 images.

I have never seen a weight with alloy copper eyes yet.

Observed no weathering marks.

In my opinion most probably your weight is not so old.

Best regards.

Hi Maungchung,

Sometimes you can find "copper-eyes" on C2A-Chinthes. Have a look at the 5 Tikal Chinthe in my gallery (No. 21). However, I have never seen this design.on other forms.
