Hi all,

I just bought a couple of Burmese Opium weights as I liked them so I was wondering if anyone here could tell me if they are real or fake by a photo or two?

All help appreciated.

According to the photos both weights are genuine. They are Hintha-weights (H3B), the youngest Burmese weights.
Please compare with no 25 in "Gallery of Hartmut Mollat": http://forum.opiumgewichte.com/thread/?thread__mid=829818241

It could be helpful to indicate the weight mass.

Thanks Michael.....that is great news!

Once I get access to some accurate scales I will add the weight and dimensions.

I will also add a better front photo as the one provided could be improved.

I did do a bit of comparing before I bought these so I hoped what info I had gathered off the internet would help and it seems it may have :)

When you say the youngest.......what age would you say they are....I thought there were late 18th Century / early 19th Century (From my research here: deleted by admin) but I am VERY new to this so it would not surprise me if I was wrong.

That means, your Hintha-weights could be dated to mid 19th c.

I thought early to mid 19th Century so I am not disappointed to read that

Looking at that link.....would you say mine look more like a H3A2 than a H3B?....but then again the base looks more like H3B (lol)
